On April 1, 2017, the Green Valley family had the opportunity to support Big Brothers Big Sisters—an amazing nonprofit organization that helps struggling children gain self-confidence and a better perspective on life. BBBS hosted the 2017 Bowl for Kids Sake at Valley Lanes in Harrisonburg, and Green Valley proudly helped sponsor the event.
Over 800 community members came to bowl, including the Green Valley Mighty Movers team. In order to bowl, each participant was asked to raise a minimum of 50 dollars. Well exceeding the minimum, Bowl for Kids Sake has brought-in over $110,000. All of the funds raised by this event stay in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County to provide one-on-one mentoring services for local children struggling with hostile or impoverished living conditions, bullying, and more.
The event itself was a ton of fun. Bowlers jammed-out to 80s favorites, and some even sported some theme-appropriate 80s fashion. The Mighty Movers had a blast together, and Greg and Elizabeth celebrated having been “Bigs” for 3 years. Folks, if you didn’t make it to the 2017 Bowl for Kids Sake, be sure to come bowl with us next time on Saturday, March 3, 2018—you won’t want to miss it!
